The definition of granite is:
- A common, coarse-grained, light-coloured, hard igneous rock, consisting chiefly of quartz, orthoclase or microcline and mica. Used in monuments and for building.
- Unyielding endurance; steadfastness: a will of granite.
But the definitions don’t do granite full justice. Granite is one of the most stunning natural substances on earth. It’s a wonder of simplicity, combining aesthetics with durability, luminosity and variety. As it’s a natural product, it can be damaged if substances are left to sink into the stone, so clear away any drips and spills immediately.
As you can probably tell – we love granite!
Granite has naturally heat-resistant qualities and is unlikely to scratch or chip. When used for kitchen or bathroom worktops, it completes your desired look.
At R&A, we only ever fabricate granite on a bespoke basis using whole granite slabs, ranging in size from 4 to 6 square metres.
This means you can be assured of a consistency of quality, as your entire job will come from the same slab or slabs from the same batch. We have strong relationships with our wholesalers in Basingstoke, Kingston and London and we highly recommend you take a tour of their extensive warehouses and yards. The colours, designs and textures will enthral you and you know nobody else on the planet will have the same surface as you.
Once you’ve chosen your granite, with our factory conveniently located in Ringwood, you can come and inspect the stone before we hand craft your new tops. By visiting our factory, you can choose where exactly your sink run, hob run etc is situated on the slab. That way you’re in total charge of the design.
